The Workshops
During the week of March 18-24, 2024 there will be a variety of art workshops led by the Ten O'clock Artists and friends. Go to www.agavearts.com to see the full list. You will find workshops about rust dyeing, bookbinding, encaustic painting, basketry, two different forms of printmaking, gourd art, jewelry making, dance and painting, mosaics, fused glass, paper marigolds, blown ink painting, and art inspiration.
The Inspiration
“Let's plan a Workshop Week!" exclaimed Ten O’clock artist Gabriele Teich, just back from trekking in Australia, where the shire of Bellingen is abuzz each year with visitors and residents participating in a week of art workshops. "The joy and vitality transformed the town, restaurants, shops, everything," said Teich. "Such fun it would be to spread art this way in Las Cruces.”
DACC OFFERING BASIC COMPUTER COURSES
Doña Ana Community College (DACC) is offering introductory computer classes to the public. Registration for classes, Essential Computer Skills and Essential Software Skills, is now open. The classes are easy-paced courses to assist in building a foundation for computer skills. Courses also can assist job seekers who may lack the digital literacy skills needed to see, obtain, and retain employment and perform other daily life tasks.
Classes are $45 each and are as follows: Essential Computer Skills (Windows, basic computer skills, e-mail, internet)o February 5th – 8th o April 8th - 11tho June 3rd – 6tho September 9th – 12th
Essential Software Skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, Google Docs) o February 19th – 22ndo April 22nd – 25tho June 17th – 20th o September 23rd – 26th

The March 2024, Exhibit at the Deming Art Center will feature the beautiful creations of thelocal quilting club- The Quilting B’s. On display will be bed-size quilts, along with wall hangings, challenges, dolls, bead art and smaller quilted items. Many will be for sale. This year there will be two quilts that will be raffled off and a silent auction- the silent auction will feature several antique quilts, two antique throws, and some new quilts. The raffle and silent auction will take place on March 29, at 3PM.The exhibit will be up from March 2-29, 2024. There will be a time to meet the quilters on Sunday, March 3, from 1-3PM. For the 3rd year running, Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site staff have chosen 32 objects from the extensive Taylor Family Collection to compete in a bracket-style tournament. Every Tuesday during the month of March, visitors to the New Mexico Historic Sites Facebook and Instagram will be invited to vote on their favorite of the 32 objects. Over the course of the month, the competitors will be narrowed from 32 until a winning object is chosen. People of all ages can participate by following the New Mexico Historic Sites Facebook @NMHistoricSites and Instagram @nmhistoricsites.
The meeting is open to the public and provides basic information to people in our community who have been diagnosed with, or care for persons with, Parkinson’s Disease. The meeting begins at 9 with Social time with coffee, water and snacks. We usually have a guest speaker at 9:45.
