Spanish is a global language that is spoken in more than 21 different countries, and is one of the top ten most spoken languages in the world. It was the first European language spoken in the Southwest, including Florida. Many people unknowingly speak Spanish.

Her art will be featured at the Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces through April 27^th. She describes her art as dealing more with migratory and economic issues rather than traditional border art.

Shifflett grew up in Las Cruces, lived a few years in Tucson, Arizona, moved to Lexington, Kentucky and finally to Cincinnati, Ohio.

Based on surveys from around the world by Amnesty International, over $15 billion dollars are spent yearly on domestic abuse issues in the United States and abroad. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), 85% of victims are women.

The Jason Foundation is a nationally recognized youth suicide awareness and prevention program and is available locally at Mesilla Valley Hospital.

She has been making drums since 1987 and made her first recording in 1992. Carlsbad native, Martinez received her first NAMMY, The Grammy for The Native American Music Industry, in 2005 as Best Female Artist. Her music consists of drumming and chanting, contemporary Native American, country, Latin and folk recordings.

Bunch moved to New Mexico in the 1950’s, and has been involved in the arts as a public school teacher, an artist and gallery owner of Adobe Patio Gallery. She is currently one of fifteen artists featured at an exhibition at the Adobe Patio Gallery in Mesilla.
