White House Announces $10 Billion For Rural Infrastructure

  The White House Rural Council today announced the creation of the new U.S. Rural Infrastructure Opportunity Fund through which private entities can invest in job-creating rural infrastructure projects across the country. An initial $10 billion has been committed to the fund with greater investment expected to follow. Target investments will include hospitals, schools and other educational facilities, rural water and wastewater systems, energy projects, broadband expansion, local and regional food systems, and other rural infrastructure.

A United Nations-run school sheltering civilians in Gaza came under attack Thursday, the U.N. says. More than a dozen people have been killed, according to Palestinian officials.

Reuters quotes Chris Gunness, a spokesman for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, the main U.N. agency in Gaza, as confirming that the shelter in Beit Hanoun was hit.

Pearce: Support Israel's Offensive Against Hamas

  Congressman Steve Pearce released the following statement in support of Israel’s offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

“I stand by our Israeli allies and their effort to permanently end terrorist attacks on civilians,” said Pearce. “Since the beginning of this military intervention into Gaza, the radical Islamic terrorist group Hamas fired over 1,000 rockets indiscriminately at Israeli civilians, while hiding behind women and children in mosques, hospitals and UN-administered schools. The moral case for Israel could not be clearer.”
