1 Dead, 2 Injured In Car Crash Near Deming

Authorities say a 23-year-old man from Louisiana has died in a single-vehicle crash near Deming.

New Mexico State Police say officers responded Friday shortly before 12:30 a.m. to the crash scene on Interstate 10 east of Deming.

According to investigators, a car driven by 26-year-old Charles Preece, of Berwick, Louisiana, was heading eastbound on the interstate when it struck a guardrail.

The vehicle flipped and came to a rest on its top.

State Police say Chance Rebardi, also of Berwick, was a passenger and pronounced dead at the scene. Preece and another passenger, 31-year-old Robert Toups, of Morgan City, Louisiana, were injured and transported to hospitals.

Their conditions were not immediately known.

Authorities say none of them were wearing seatbelts.

The investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing.
