$1 Million Bond For Man Charged In Las Cruces Murder

Las Cruces—Corey Franklin, 23, was arraigned in district court Monday and a secured bond was set at $1 million by Judge Darren Kugler.

On February 5, 2015 Franklin was indicted on charges including 1st Degree Murder for the death of Graciela Hernandez on January 21, 2015. Other charges included Kidnapping and Tampering with Evidence.

Franklin allegedly stabbed Hernandez, his girlfriend, multiple times then dragged the victim to the bedroom where he left her for over 18 hours.  During that time the defendant went to buy more alcohol and reported to Las Cruces Police that he had a domestic dispute with this girlfriend and she was not breathing. Investigators responded to the home located at 1401 Eclipse Road and found Hernandez.

David Benatar from the Public Defender’s office is representing Franklin; a trial date has yet to be set.
