$1,000 Scholarship Offered In Student Mural Competition

The College of Education invites submissions by individual NMSU students or teams of NMSU students returning in the fall ’17 semester for the first mural-sized painting for permanent installation in O’Donnell Hall room 301. Students are encouraged to visit the site prior to submitting their work. The student(s) who submit the successful design will receive a total of a $1000.00 scholarship in the fall ’17 semester. Teams of students will split the $1000.00 scholarship.

The final mural-sized painting should visually express one or all of the College of Education’s values—Excellence, Transparency, Integrity, Leadership, Diversity and Innovation. The College of Education will provide a $500.00 materials budget for the creation of the final work of art measuring 6.5’ tall x 10’ wide, to be completed as a painting on stretched canvas (Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing, Craig Cully, will assist with the fabrication of the stretcher bars and preparation of the canvas as well as oversee the progress of the work of art). The final work of art will be due by August 1, 2017.

E-mail submissions to Craig Cully <cullyc@nmsu.edu> by Friday April 28,, 2017 with the subject line “College of Ed Mural Submission”,  files must be 72dpi jpg. RGB at 6.5” tall x 10” wide. The submissions will be juried by a panel of faculty and staff from the Department of Art and College of Education.
