11 year olds charged in fire
Las Cruces, NM – Two 11-year-old boys have been charged with attempted arson following a Tuesday fire inside Chaparral Elementary School.
The Dona Ana County Fire and Emergency Services Department reported a call from the school just after noon.
The trash-can fire in the third-grade hallway had already been extinguished by school staff when firefighters arrived moments after the call.
No students were injured, but the building was temporarily evacuated as a safety precaution.
