Authorities say there were no injuries or spills of hazardous materials when 14 railroad cars carrying grain derailed in eastern New Mexico.
The New Mexico State Police said the derailment occurred Tuesday about 10 miles east of Santa Rosa near Interstate 40.
Sgt. Chad Pierce says I-40 is open in both directions but that westbound exit 284 is closed due to cleanup work.
According to Pierce, a wheel on one of the cars on the back end of the train apparently broke, causing the derailment and extensive damage to the track.
Pierce says the train's two crew members weren't injured.
