150 Border Agents Being Sent To South Texas

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh (Jay) Johnson says 150 more Border Patrol agents are being sent to South Texas where authorities have been overwhelmed by an increase illegal immigration.

Johnson on Monday made his third visit in the last month and a half to the Border Patrol's McAllen station in southernmost Texas. The station has been hardest hit by the more than 52,000 unaccompanied children arrested since October. It's not clear if the new agents are temporary or permanent transfers.

Johnson has repeated a message expressed by others in the administration that the children won't be allowed to stay in the United States, adding "the journey is not safe."

Johnson says he'll travel to Guatemala next week and that Secretary of State John Kerry is headed to the region Tuesday.
