4 Men Suspected in 2013 Las Cruces Rape

Edgar O. Chaparro, 27, and 28-year-old Erik Daniel Lee

Las Cruces Police have charged four men suspected of the 2013 sexual assault of a 27-year-old woman during a house party.

Luis F. Orquiz, 25, Rigoberto Enriquez-Rodriguez, 26, Edgar O. Chaparro, 27, and 28-year-old Erik Daniel Lee are charged with one count each of criminal sexual penetration, a second-degree felony, and one count each of first-degree felony kidnapping.

Additional charges against all four men are pending.

Detectives learned that the woman, who was 27 years old at the time, attended a house party in March 2013 on the 800 block of Mimbres in Las Cruces. The four men also attended the party. Detectives learned that the woman had a few alcoholic drinks and went to bed.

The woman told detectives that, at about 5:30 a.m. on March 9, 2013, she awoke and noticed that the four suspects were still there playing beer pong. Detectives believe the woman was forcefully held down and sexually assaulted by the four men as she exited the bathroom.

Arrest warrants for the four men were issued out of Magistrate Court on Nov. 4, 2016. Orquiz was arrested Nov. 7 in Ruidoso, N.M., while Lee was arrested the same day in Las Cruces. Chaparro was arrested Nov. 8 in Las Cruces and Enriquez-Rodriguez was picked up Nov. 13 as he crossed the Lukeville Port of Entry in Arizona.

All four men have since posted bond and have been released from custody.
