New Mexico – ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRWG) Four New Mexico communities will share in more than $1.2 million for hiring and retaining law enforcement officers.
The grant funding comes from the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman announced the funding this week. He described the grants as an investment in the communities and the safety of their residents.
The city of Gallup will receive more than $507,000.
Police departments in Raton, Los Lunas and Truth or Consequences were also awarded grants.
