Police say six teenagers have been charged with murder in the death of a 60-year-old man who was gunned down in his driveway.
The Albuquerque Journal reports Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Tanner Tixier says the male teens, ranging in age from 14 to 17, were arrested Thursday.
According to police, the teenagers had been stealing from several cars and homes in a Sandia foothills neighborhood before one of them shot and killed Stephen Gerecke on June 26. Officers found Gerecke dead in his driveway with multiple gunshot wounds.
Tixier says an investigation by a department task force and investigators from the District Attorney's Office led to the juveniles' arrest.
The six teens face charges including murder, aggravated burglary and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
