69-Year-Old Accused Of Ramming Truck In Road Rage Incident

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s detectives have charged a 69-year-old East Mesa man with nine counts of aggravated assault after victims said the man tried to run them over with his vehicle.

Robert Quigley, who lives on Kangaroo Court, had originally called 911 to report he had been involved in a physical altercation. Detectives who were called to investigate later learned Quigley had allegedly rammed another vehicle after an alleged road-rage incident on Holman Road near Shoestring Ranch.

The exchange happened Friday morning just after 9 a.m. A man and a pregnant woman said they were traveling together in a truck with a small child in the backseat when they said a man driving a blue Pontiac, later identified as Quigley, allegedly ran them off the road. Victims said the man turned the vehicle around and drove by the victims’ truck again, this time hitting the driver’s side door.

Quigley reportedly called 911 to report he had been involved in a physical altercation at the same location after the victim allegedly hit Quigley in the face.

The victims reportedly called 911 at the same time to report they had been involved in a hit and run.

Deputies responding to both incidents later connected the two events.

Quigley was arrested and transported to the Doña Ana County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond. He is charged with criminal damage to property, child abuse, and nine counts of aggravated assault (may cause death or great bodily harm).

The victims in the truck were not charged.
