The Texas affiliate of the National Education Association and other advocacy groups have issued failing grades to U.S. Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz on key social and educational issues.
Also getting 'Fs' amid a frigid rally on the steps of the state Capitol Friday were fellow Republicans and U.S. Reps. John Carter and Roger Williams.
The four were chided for failing to do more on issues "critical to Texas families, including labor, public schools, health care, immigration reform and voting rights."
Organizers included the Texas State Teachers Association and the state chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, as well as the Workers Defense Project.
They insisted the event wasn't about partisan issues but basic civil and human rights for all Americans.
