Las Cruces, NM – The average price for a home in Las Cruces jumped over 15-thousand dollars this year raising the average price for a home to 221-thousand dollars. The average Las Cruces resident makes about 35-thousand dollars a year according to the 2005 census. Las Cruces and Dona Ana County officials say they are doing their best to distribute funding to create more affordable housing, but as KRWG's Jessica Borchert reports the Housing Authority of Las Cruces says the lack of affordable housing in the area is still an ongoing problem.
