Aggies To Meet No. 9 Kansas In NCAA Tournament

LAS CRUCES, N.M. –The New Mexico State Aggies drew No. 9 Kansas as their first opponent in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

The NCAA selection committee tapped the Western Athletic Conference champion Aggies (23-10) as a No. 15 seed in the Midwest Region, while Kansas (26-8, the regular season Big 12 champion and tournament runnerup, is the No. 2 seed.

The game will be Friday in Omaha, Neb., at the CenturyLink Center in the opening contest at 10:15 a.m. Mountain time (11:15 Central).

“While I was hoping we’d get a 13 or 14 seed, it really doesn’t matter,” said NM State coach Marvin Menzies. “Because when you’re a 13-14-15, you’re playing the big boys.”

“Kansas is one of the storied college programs in the country, and we’ve got our work cut out for us,” Menzies added.

NM State is making its fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and the fifth in the last six years under Menzies.

The Aggies are one of 13 programs that will play in the NCAA Tournament in each of the last four seasons.
