Las Cruces – An Alamogordo man has been sentenced to 54 years in prison for molesting an 11-year-old girl.
David Gnau received 18 years each for three counts of first-degree felony criminal sexual penetration of a child under 13. He will have to serve each of the 18-year sentences consecutively.
Gnau admitted having sex with the victim on several different occasions.
The Alamogordo Daily News reports the 35-year-old Gnau will not be eligible for parole until he is almost 81. If Gnau serves out his mandatory sentence, he will be placed on an indefinite period of parole and register as a sex offender.
Gnau said he regretted what he had done and apologized to the victim and the victim's family during his sentencing hearing Wednesday.
