Alamogordo Officer Fired After Threat Allegations

A 43-year-old Alamogordo police officer has been fired more than a month after he was arrested for threatening rental store employees with a handgun.

The Alamogordo Daily News reports that Officer Warren Whittington was dismissed by the department earlier this week.

Whittington was initially put on administrative leave while New Mexico State Police conducted an investigation.

He was accused of pointing a gun at rental center employees attempting to retrieve a leased laptop from his home in May.

According to court records, Whittington told investigators he did not threaten them.

In July, Whittington was arrested for allegedly grabbing his live-in girlfriend and pushing her against a wall.

Whittington is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 9 for a preliminary hearing in both cases.
