Alamogordo School Chief Retiring In June

The Alamogordo Public Schools superintendent has announced that he is retiring.

The Alamogordo Daily News reports school chief George Straface (STRAH'-face) told board members last week that he was retiring because he was "just ready."

Straface says he wanted the public to know there has no pressure applied from the board to retire.

Straface replaced former superintendent Mike Harris and has been with the district since January 2011.

The educator said he would finish the rest of his contract, which expires in June.
