Albuquerque Controversy: County Clerk Removes Voting Guides From Polling Places

The League of Women Voters says Bernalillo County has ordered its voting guides removed from polling stations.

League President Shelly Shepherd says the county clerk ordered the guides be taken away after Secretary of State Dianna Duran's office said the law prohibiting campaigning and electioneering near polling places may apply to the publications.

Shepherd says the guides have been available at early voting locations and the clerk's office for many years. She says the group has always worked closely with the Bernalillo County Clerk to provide neutral voter information on candidates and issues and that they have always been enthusiastically received by voters.

The guides can still be found at the public libraries, senior and community centers and businesses throughout the Bernalillo and Sandoval County area, as well as on the League's website, www.lwvcnm.org
