Most employees earning the minimum wage in Albuquerque will get a raise on Wednesday, with many getting an increase of 10 cents an hour.
The basic hourly wage for the city's minimum wage will rise to $8.60 from $8.50, while the rate for tipped employees will rise to $5.16 from $3.83.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that employers providing a certain level of health care benefits are allowed to reduce the basic minimum wage by $1. That means those employers will have to pay only $7.60 an hour.
Albuquerque voters approved a 2012 ballot measure that requires inflation-based increases in the city's minimum wage.
