Albuquerque Kindergarten Teacher Accused In Child Porn Case

Authorities say a suspended Albuquerque Public Schools kindergarten teacher who's accused of possessing child pornography has been arrested again on federal charges.

Joshua Weitz was arrested Nov. 4 on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child and 25 counts of intent to distribute child pornography.

The 30-year-old Albuquerque resident bonded out of jail two days later.

Federal prosecutors say Weitz was arrested again Wednesday night on a federal criminal complaint accusing him with distribution, receipt and possession of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Weitz appeared in federal court Thursday. He remains in federal custody pending a preliminary hearing and a detention hearing scheduled for Friday.

The complaint alleges Weitz received and possessed child porn last month while he was a kindergarten teacher at Whittier Elementary School.
