The state is getting its $1.4 million reimbursement for administering PARCC testing at Albuquerque Schools after the district's board members voted 4-3 to reverse its earlier decision not to.
Interim superintendent Brad Winter says he put the issue back on the agenda so that the incoming superintendent wouldn't have to deal with any repercussions.
Winter says state education officials are expressing a willingness to work with the district to improve the test.
Board member Lorenzo Garcia says he voted against paying for PARCC because the state failed to address issues with the test, like the fact that most aren't available in Spanish and that it's unclear how special education students will be tested.
Board member David Peercy was the swing vote Wednesday night.
