The city of Albuquerque is asking that lawyers in a civil case stemming from a fatal shooting of a homeless camper by police be barred from discussing the case with the public.
KOB-TV reports that the request for a gag order was one of two motions filed Monday in the case stemming from the March shooting death of James Boyd.
The other motion seeks dismissal of parts of the lawsuit filed by Boyd's family that aren't related to monetary damages.
KOB-TV and other media outlets late last month reported on a dashboard camera recording of comments made by a police officer about two hours before that officer and another shot Boyd.
The officer had used profanity to describe Boyd during the encounter at Boyd's campsite in the Sandia foothills.
