American Southwest Theatre Company at NMSU Presents ‘Other Desert Cities’

The 2012 Pulitzer Prize finalist drama “Other Desert Cities” will come to the Medoff Theatre in the Center for The Arts on the New Mexico State University campus in February. This explosive, finely tuned family drama is directed by Josh Chenard, set and lighting by Jim Billings and costumes by Megan Thompson. Cast members include NMSU faculty member Claudia Billings, community members Deborah Storm, Jeff Peckham and NMSU Theatre Arts students Rachel Adams and Nico Holguin. 

In Jon Robin Baitz’s “Other Desert Cities,” Brooke Wyeth returns home to Palm Springs after a six year absence to celebrate Christmas with her parents, her brother and her aunt. Brooke announces that she is about to publish a memoir dredging up a pivotal and tragic event in the family’s history, a wound they don’t want reopened. 

Dates for “Other Desert Cities” are Feb. 20 through March 8. Tickets are $10 to $17 and are available at the Center for the Arts box office Monday throughFriday between noon and 4 p.m. or by calling 646-4515 or 646-1420. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m.Sundays. Following the opening night performance on Feb. 20 there will be a reception sponsored by NMSU’s College of Arts and Sciences. This production contains adult content.
