Anthony Man Gets 10 Years For Heroin Trafficking

An Anthony, New Mexico, man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for a heroin trafficking conviction.

Prosecutors say 39-year-old Daniel Arrieta also was sentenced Wednesday in a federal court in Las Cruces to three years of supervised release.

Arrieta was arrested in May 2013 on a criminal complaint charging him with participating in a heroin trafficking conspiracy. He pleaded guilty earlier this month.

Authorities say he was accused of selling nearly four grams of heroin which was packaged for retail distribution to an undercover agent in exchange for $200.

They say the undercover transaction took place during two meetings in Anthony and El Paso, Texas on April 18, 2013.
