Artist Sought For Las Cruces Bridge

Las Cruces: The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District One and the Federal Highway Administration are seeking an artist or artist team to create a design for the I-25/Missouri Avenue Bridge in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Artists in New Mexico are encouraged and invited to submit profiles of their work, which will grant them an opportunity to display their renderings locally.

The final design images will be casted in concrete form-liners onto the concrete bridge abutments and wall barrier. Based on public input, the design theme will include one or more of the following: Las Cruces, Mesilla Valley culture, Organ Mountains, scenic/landscape, or nature elements. The themes may be interpreted symbolically or figuratively.

All applications must be made through the CaFÉ (Call for Entry) web-based system. Artists can visit the CaFÉ project site at the following web site where all application requirements are found in detail: http://bit.ly/1guZAMw. For consideration, artists must create a CaFÉ profile and submit three (3) to six (6) examples of previously complete work. Up to five (5) semi-finalists will be selected and then requested to submit a sample drawing or rendering relevant to the project.
