ATV Crash Critically Injures Las Cruces Man

A 32-year-old Las Cruces man remains in critical condition at an El Paso hospital following Friday’s all-terrain vehicle crash on the East Mesa.

At around 7 p.m. Friday, July 10, Las Cruces Police were called to the intersection of Mesa Drive and Santa Cruz Avenue. Police discovered the driver of a 2002 Honda ATV with multiple injuries to his head and body. He was transported to University Medical Center where Monday he remains unconscious and in critical condition.

Traffic investigators determined that the 32-year-old man was the sole occupant of the ATV and was traveling east on Santa Cruz when he attempted to turn south onto Mesa. As the ATV began to turn on Mesa Drive it flipped multiple times. The driver was not wearing a helmet.

Traffic investigators believe speed may be a contributing factor in the crash. No other vehicles were believed to be involved.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.
