Audit Finds El Paso Hospital Down $60 Million In Revenue

An audit shows an El Paso hospital lost at least $60 million in revenue between 2013 and 2014.

A board chairman for the University Medical Center of El Paso says most of that is a result of the El Paso Children's Hospital not making payments to UMC for rent and services.

Officials with both facilities say they have been in negotiations to determine how much the children's hospital owes the medical center. A spokeswoman for the children's hospital says discussions have been productive.

The accounting firm that completed the audit said delays in payment from a state Medicaid waiver and the Federal Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital allotment also have affected the medical center's cash flow.

The El Paso County Commissioners Court received the report on Monday.
