Backers Of Boy Scouts' Discrimination Policy Pray In Irving

A prayer rally was held near Boy Scouts of America headquarters in suburban Dallas for supporters of keeping a ban on gay members.  The rally Wednesday in Irving came after national BSA leaders delayed until May a decision on letting troops decide whether to allow gay members and leaders.

Police say about 150 people attended the rally sponsored by the group Texas Values. Organizers say about twice as many individuals took part.

Participants sang "God Bless America" and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. One sign in the crowd said "Who sets the agenda for BSA? A century of PROVEN TRADITION or a decade of political pressure."

Volunteer officers of the BSA's National Executive Board sought more time to review the issues.
