Berino Road Closure

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Beginning Monday, May 10, traffic along Berino Road at the intersection with N.M. 478 will be re-routed for at least six weeks to Joy Drive while the initial phase of reconstruction begins. Detours will be posted. Further closings and detours will be implemented during the next 10 months.

The Berino Road Improvement Project will rebuild 7,700 feet of roadway to create a roadway 25 feet wide with six-foot shoulders, extending from N.M. 478 to Stern Drive. A new drainage system will be installed as part of the project, with a 48-inch storm drain at the west end of the road and a 36-inch drain installed at the east end. The entire area will be landscaped upon completion, which is estimated to take about 270 days, weather permitting.

Warning signs will be posted. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes where possible and to slow down and expect delays in the construction areas. Motorists also are reminded to exercise caution in all areas where workers are deployed.
