BLM To Lift Fire Restrictions In New Mexico

By KRWG News

New Mexico – SANTA FE, N.M. (KRWG) The Bureau of Land Management has decided to lift all fire restrictions on lands managed by the federal agency in New Mexico because of summer rains and increased humidity levels.

The restrictions will be lifted Friday.

The only fire-related closure that will remain in effect on BLM-managed lands is the closure of the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. The monument is still closed due to the nearby Las Conchas fire and flooding concerns.

The lifting of fire restrictions has been coordinated with other land management agencies and the State Forestry Division.

While areas are now less prone to the wildfires, officials are asking the public to continue being careful with fire when visiting public lands.

The BLM manages over 13 million acres of public land in New Mexico.
