BLM Resource Advisory Council to Meet in Las Cruces

Las Cruces, NM – The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Las Cruces District Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will meet in Las Cruces on Tuesday, April 5, 2016.  The meeting will be from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the BLM office located at 1800 Marquess Street, Las Cruces, New Mexico, 88005.  After the meeting, the BLM and RAC will tour the Doña Ana Mountains located in the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument.  The field tour will depart from the BLM office at 1:00 p.m., and travel north on Interstate-25 to the Doña Ana Exit 320, taking a right on Las Lomas, left on La Reina Road and a right to Desert Wind Way to the Doña Ana Recreation Area parking lot.  The field tour will conclude by 5:00 p.m.

All RAC meetings and field tours are open to the public.  However, the public is responsible for their own transportation for the field tour.

At the meeting, there will be a half-hour public comment period starting at 11:00 a.m. for any interested members of the public who wish to address the RAC.  Depending on the number of persons wishing to speak and time available, individual comments may be limited.  The public may also send written comments to the RAC by mailing to the BLM Las Cruces District Office, Attn:  Deborah Stevens.

The meeting agenda includes updates on current and proposed projects in the Las Cruces District, including lands/realty, planning and energy projects.

The 10-member Las Cruces District Resource Advisory Council provides advice and recommendations on resource and land management issues for 5.5 million acres of public land located within the District’s six southwestern New Mexico counties under its jurisdiction.
