In a story July 26 and in a previous story about the arrest of a man in a fraud case, The Associated Press, relying on information from the San Juan County Sheriff's Office, reported erroneously that Daniel Goldberg Sr. is a bondsman. Goldberg formerly was licensed by New Mexico as a bondsman but he currently does not have a bondsman's license.

New Mexico man says arrest is retaliation
Man claims arrest by San Juan County sheriff's deputies is retaliation over suit.
A New Mexico fugitive recovery agent who was arrested on a fraud warrant says the arresting agency is retaliating for a lawsuit.
Daniel Goldberg Sr. told The Daily Times of Farmington Saturday that the San Juan County Sheriff's Office is trying to discredit his ongoing civil suit against them.
Goldberg sued the sheriff's office in 2014, alleging he had been slandered and libeled by Sheriff Ken Christesen and other employees.
Sheriff's spokesman Kyle Lincoln declined to comment because of the pending litigation.
But Lincoln says Goldberg's alleged fraud took place in San Juan County so their office had to investigate.
Two fraud counts accuse Goldberg of defrauding a woman of $1,850. He took her into custody after she failed to appear in court after being released on bond in a pending case..
In 2006, he and his son were tried for allegedly raping a woman they bailed out of jail.
