An upcoming book sale will benefit Thomas Branigan Memorial Library by generating revenue to pay for summer reading programs for children and adults, and purchase library materials including books and DVDs.

The Friends of Thomas Branigan Memorial Library (FTBML) will conduct the book sale at the library, 200 E. Picacho Ave., from 1 – 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, and 1 – 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8.

Friday is a special member’s only event. “Not to worry, though,” says Don Behnke, FTBML president. “We’ll have membership forms at the door. So those who want can join on the spot and take advantage of the bargains.”

“Speaking of bargains,” said Branigan Library Administrator Renée Payne Frankel, “the special feature will be VHS tapes. We’re not collecting them anymore and we’ve taken them off the shelves to make room for other media formats. So, this is a great opportunity for anyone who’s interested to build up their personal video library, and help FTBML raise money for the library!”

In addition to hardcover books and VHS tapes, paperback books and other treasures will be available. In the past, FTBML book sales have featured LP recordings, bookmarks, audiobooks and more.

“These book sales are really one of the better bargains you’ll find in town when it comes to reading matter. Plus, when you buy books here, you’re helping FTBML to fund Library programs and services,” Behnke said.
