Boost For School Breakfast Programs

By KRWG News

New Mexico – Gov. Susana Martinez has signed a measure that will establish a school breakfast program in schools.

The program would be set up in schools that in which at least 85 percent of students qualify for free or reduced-cost lunch.

The legislation does not increase the amount of money appropriated for school meals, but will allow for more federal matching funds.

Martinez says no child should start the school day hungry.

She says the measure will help ensure that more students are able to concentrate better on their studies.
