El Paso – Border officials say they have seized more than a half ton of marijuana in several busts at a major El Paso border crossing.
Customs and Border Protection said Tuesday the largest seizure came after a drug-sniffing dog alerted agents to a passenger bus at the Bridge of the Americas. Agents drilled and found 390 bundles of marijuana weighing about 400 pounds in a compartment of the bus.
The bust came early Sunday at the border crossing at the southern end of Interstate 110.
A Customs and Border Protection statement says U.S. border agents also made several other seizures over the weekend that brought the total of confiscated marijuana to more than 1,000 pounds at three El Paso border crossings.
