Border Patrol: Agent Assaulted In Arizona Desert

The Border Patrol says one of its agents was assaulted in the southern Arizona desert over the weekend.

The agency says the agent assigned to the Border Patrol's Ajo station suffered face cuts and a broken orbital bone and required 22 stiches. The agent was treated at a hospital and released.

The Border Patrol says the FBI is investigating the assault and that a person of interest has been identified.

According to the Border Patrol, the assault occurred Saturday on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation at a location southeast of Ajo and west of Sells.
