Border Patrol Captures Sexual Predator And Stops Unrelated Assault Against Las Cruces Woman

El Paso Sector U.S. Border Patrol Agents arrested a U. S. citizen with an active criminal warrant out of Austin, Texas, and also halted an assault against a woman in Las Cruces.

On Tuesday, Oct. 29, U.S. Border Patrol Agents assigned to the Clint Border Patrol Station received a call from a concerned citizen in Tornillo, Texas. The caller stated he became suspicious of the individual after the person asked for a change of clothing. The caller further stated that he suspected the individual was attempting to hide from someone. The Clint Station dispatched an agent to the area who responded and observed a subject matching the description provided by the caller. The subject, who was running from a local business, attempted to elude the agent who gave chase while issuing verbal commands for the subject to stop. The subject was defiant and became aggressive toward the agent. Using his experience and training, the agent was able to take command of the situation. The subject, later identified as 54-year-old U.S. Citizen Anthony Flores, was detained for questioning without further incident.

Upon conducting records checks via several data bases, it was revealed that Flores had an active warrant out of Austin, Texas. It was also discovered that he is a registered sex offender with an extensive criminal history of more than a dozen criminal convictions to include possession of marijuana, assault on a peace officer, and multiple charges of indecency with a child. Flores was turned over to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for extradition.
