Border Patrol Seizes Over 1,000 Pounds Of Pot In Deming

The Border Patrol has seized more than one thousand pounds of pot hidden in a truck with a street value of more than $800,000.  Deming Border Patrol Agents conducted a Monday vehicle stop of the driver of a flatbed utility vehicle that was traveling west on U.S. Highway 9, mile marker 71.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Crispin Fierro, a 30-year-old United States citizen, exhibited suspicious behavior, which lead the agents to further investigate.

The agents observed further discrepancies with the vehicle and called for support from the Canine Unit.

The canine handler and partner conducted a non-intrusive inspection of the vehicle which resulted in the discovery of 1,004 pounds of marijuana in a secret compartment.

The narcotics seized have an estimated street value of $803,000. Fierro was taken into custody, processed and is pending prosecution.
