Bridge Testing West Of NM-28

  Las Cruces- The District One office for the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) with New Mexico State University (NMSU) will be conducting a research project to evaluate concrete bridges, that encompasses load testing on West Afton Road (west of NM-28).

 

The testing is part of a federal standard process of evaluating bridge conditions throughout the state of New Mexico to insure structural stability for the traveling public. The process will entail 3 days which includes setup, inspection, disassembly of equipment and traffic control.

 

The bridge inspections are scheduled for Wednesday May 21st and will be completed by the end of business Friday May 23rd. The traveling public will encounter intermittent closures between 9:00 am until 5:00 pm each day as testing is conducted in intervals of 15 to 20 minutes. The NMDOT will have traffic control and flagging operations ongoing as tests are being performed.
