Clovis – A New Mexico State University student has found a different way to pay for college by giving camel rides on his camel, Caesar.
Edwin Snell, who has had Caesar for 11 years, says the $5 rides have gotten him through to his junior year as an international business major.
Snell offered rides at a Clovis business parking lot while he was home for Thanksgiving.
He says about 150 people had taken rides by Saturday. Kids and adults nestled between Caesar s humps, being led through the parking lot.
Snell says Caesar is kind of like his dog, and he took the camel with him when he left for college in Las Cruces.
He says he also rides Caesar, sometimes even going through drive-through windows at fast food restaurants.
