New Mexico – Cannon Air Force Base says the 16th Special Operations Squadron at the eastern New Mexico base has its first female commander.
The base says Lt. Col. Tracy Onufer was promoted to the position in February.
The announcement on the Cannon Air Force Base website says Onufer is only the second woman to command an operational flying squadron in the Air Force Special Operations Command.
Onufer has served in a myriad of squadron, wing and AFSOC positions over nearly 15 years.
