Carlsbad Campus Offers Cultural Program

New Mexico State University's campus in Carlsbad is now preparing students to share the culture and heritage of the Southwest through a new certificate program.

The Carlsbad Current-Argus reports the heritage interpretation program is designed to prepare students for careers as interpreters, tour guides, technicians and docents.

The head of the social sciences department, Kenda Josselet, says students will be able to practice what they learn in internships at state and national parks in the area. Graduates will be qualified to fill positions in museums, heritage sites and art galleries.

The two-year program guides students with focus on the history, environment and culture of New Mexico.
