The Challenges and Delights of "Die Fledermaus"

Revenge, farce, hidden identities, love and jealousy all come into play in the delightful operetta "Die Fledermaus" ("The Bat"), by Johann Strauss, Jr., which is being staged by the Dona Ana Lyric Opera this weekend. Director (and NMSU graduate) Ian Sidden said his biggest challenge in developing the production was "letting go" -- so that his talented team could bring their creative ideas to fruition. He spoke with Intermezzo host Leora Zeitlin just hours before the opening night performance.
