When young people are exposed to great music, their lives can be forever changed. Contemporary
composer and choral conductor John Rutter included young voices in his contemporary masterpiece, Mass of the Children, and Leonard Bernstein included a boy soprano in his “Chichester Psalms.” Both pieces are on the program for the March concert of the NMSU choirs, which will be joined by the Dona Ana Youth Choir, the Mesilla Valley Teen Choir, and a full orchestra. Conductor David Klement came to talk with Intermezzo host Leora Zeitlin about these two works, and the third masterwork on the program, Totus Tuus, by Henryk Gorecki.
