ANTHONY, N.M. (AP) — An immigrant advocacy group in southern New Mexico is hosting a free citizenship workshop aimed at getting more residents along the border to become U.S. citizens.
Border Network for Human Rights and a coalition of other groups are hosting Saturday the free workshop in Anthony, N.M. Organizers say the workshop will inform potential new U.S. citizens about requirements, documents and the process.
In order to qualify to vote in November, new citizens must have filed the needed paperwork by the end of April.
Organizers say there are an estimated 4 million people in the U.S. who are eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship.
