Cleanup and Environmental Education Events Planned by Doña Ana County for Earth Day 2017

Doña Ana County will be taking part in the Great American Cleanup for Earth Day. Keep Doña Ana County Beautiful (KDACB), an affiliate of the Great American Cleanup, will host a cleanup day on April 1st in the areas of Vado, Mesquite, San Miguel and La Mesa. As a Keep America Beautiful affiliate, KDACB adheres to four focus areas: Litter Eradication, Graffiti, Beautification and Recycling. The cleanup efforts on April 1st will focus on litter eradication throughout the four communities.

“We will be working with volunteers to clean up each of these communities in Doña Ana County on April 1st, and we encourage everyone to get involved to make our county clean and beautiful to celebrate Earth Day,” said Irene Holguin, Coordinator for Keep Doña Ana County Beautiful. “In addition to the cleanup day efforts, we will have fun and environmentally focused Earth Day events the week of April 17th.”

Doña Ana County Earth Day Week will take place April 17th-21st, and will feature a week full of events.  All events are free and open to the public. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings starting at 5:30 at the Government Center, 845 N. Motel Blvd, they will feature Las Cruces Chats (LC2), in which local subject matter experts speak about pressing environmental issues. On Friday, April 21st from 9:00am – 2:00pm, vendors will be set up at the Government Center, and the day will begin with the planting of a tree to commemorate Earth Day.
