Las Cruces, NM – On Friday United States Congressman Silvestre Reyes who is chairman of the house Intelligence Committee, and Assistant Secretary of State David T. Johnson were in El Paso to discuss drug and human trafficking. Johnson who works in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs spoke extensively about the Merida Initiative; a 1.4 billion dollar aid package intended to help combat the flow of drugs into the U.S. from Mexico and Central America. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, the forum came at a time when drug related crime along the border is once again making headlines.
