Las Cruces, NM – Arif Mardin, a legendary name in pop music passed away on June 25th at the age of 74. The Turkish born producer and arranger died from pancreatic cancer. Mardin won 12 Grammy awards during his career, and produced records with artists like Aretha Franklin, The Bee Gees, and Stevie Wonder. The last record Mardin produced was with newly signed Raul Midon, a native New Mexican. KRWG's Evan Woodward had a chance to catch up with Midon at his most recent appearance in New Mexico and talk with him about his journey from Imbudo to worldwide fame.
